Homemade spiced hot chocolate

With this cold winter weather we’ve been having here in Denmark, I felt that I deserved a nice hot cup of chocolate the other day. This recipe is a bit different from the regular cup of cocoa.  I spiced it up with…well a few spices. Ingredients;

Super Bowl Brownies

The other cake I made for our little Super Bowl get together on Sunday was a brownie that never fails. The recipe is from Hummingbird Bakery. Its lovely and moist, gooey and oh so chocolately. And quite easy to through together, so it’s also perfect as a last minute dessert. Again I made cocao cream cheese frosting for the cake. It’s just so yummy. A couple of the guys said that it’s the best part of the cake. Here’s the recipe;

Chili con Jamie – Jamie Oliver’s chili con carne

Another recipe is now done in me Jamie Oliver domestic project. I really love this project. Its quite a long process but its great its also great motivation. And the book, Jamie’s America, has so many great recipes, so it’s just a joy to work through. Last night I cooked Chili con Jamie as its called. The recipe says to use beef brisket instead of minced beef. The meat just melts and falls a apart when you let the dish simmer for a few hours. The dish did turn out quite bitter, which we didn’t really like. It must have been the coffee, so next time I’ll use a bit less, or not as strong coffee. And perhaps use more...

Strawberry, Banana, Blueberry Milkshake

I treated myself to a homemade milkshake this afternoon. Since we had a few bananas and some blueberry sauce left over form the other day, they went in the blender along with a handful of frozen strawberries. I love how simple and yet so so delicious a milkshake is…summer in a glass! Ingredients;

Banana pancakes with blueberry skyr

Today’s breakfast was a really yummy one. I made banana pancakes. I wanted something to contrast the banana, which can be very rich, so I made blueberry skyr, which was nice and tangy. Skyr is an Icelandic cultured dairy product, similar to strained yogurt. It has a slightly sour dairy flavor, with a hint of residual sweetness. I found the pancake recipe on another blog, A Bitchin Kitchen, that I just discovered and now absolutely love. Lots of recipes that I cannot wait to try out! Here’s the recipe for banana pancakes and blueberry skyr Ingredients;

Jamie Oliver’s Strawberry Orchata

The Cinnamon orchata I made back in November was surprisingly good and delicious, so I was looking forward to trying the fruit version of the drink; Strawberry orchata. And tonight was the night to try it out. I wasn’t blown away unfortunately. It was still alright but just not amazing. Perhaps it was because I used frozen strawberries instead of fresh. The taste just wasn’t as fresh and fruity as I had hoped. Actually it was a bit bland.  In the summer I might try it again with fresh strawberries. On a side note, I realized that I have been spelling the drink with an ‘O’ and have noticed that it is also spelled with an ‘H’…so don’t really know...
