Homemade Rice Krispies Treats

The first time I tried a rice krispies treat was in 08’ when I lived in New York. I was in the hospital and my friend Nadia brought me one when she visited me. Granted it was probably from some fancy New York café, and I had been living on hospital food for a week, but I was sold and thought it was ridiculously yummy. So chewy, yet light and airy. I have tried the regular store bought kind since then and the experience was not the same…still not too bad though.
Today I decided to try and make them myself. It wasn’t hard at all. All you need is a bit of patients.
Here’s all you need:
800 ml. of Rice Krispies
250 g of marshmallows
3 tbsp. of butter
What to do:
Over low, low heat, melt the butter in a pot
Once it’s melted, add the marshmallows
Still with low heat, stir the marshmallows until thoroughly melted and cook another minute
Turn off heat and stir in rice krispies.
Transfer to a buttered pan
Cover with wax paper and press down
Let cool for about 20 minutes or more and cut it up.
I have a jar of Marshmallow Fluff from my trip to London and think that I might try and use that next time instead of a bag of marshmallows. I bought two, one regular and one strawberry flavored. And I think the strawberry might work pretty well for the next batch of rice krispies treat.
