Granola Bars

Granola bars with nuts and fruit

This time of year I usually bake a few cakes using my NFL helmet pan and decorate the cakes with lots of icing. But this year I’m doing something a bit healthier, but still really sweet and delicious.

Granola bars. Easy to make plus you can use a large variety of ingredients to fit everyone’s taste – I went in on nuts.com for a bit of inspiration. And now that it is game day (Go Giants!) granola bars are also perfect snacks to bring along to a tailgate if you want to eat something that’s light and tasty.

Ingredients

Homemade granola bars

250 g of oats

60 g pistachio nuts

40 g almonds

25 g hazelnuts

60 g sunflower seeds

40 g sesame seeds

25 g flak seeds

25 g raisins

25 g dried cranberries

25 g dried dates

25 g dried apricots

10 grinds on a vanilla grinder¨

1 can of condensed milk

You can use any nuts, seeds and dried fruit you wish really, so here a more simple ingredient list:

250 g oats

125 g nuts

125g seeds

100 g dried fruit

1 can of condensed milk

Vanilla

Method:

Cut the dried fruit into small pieces.

Roughly chop the nuts.

Mix oatmeal, dried fruit, seeds and nuts.

Add the condensed milk and stir the mass.

Pour the mixture into a baking pan lined with baking paper and pat down with a spoon.

Bake at 130 degrees C / 266 degrees F for 1 hour.

Cool slightly and cut into squares.
